Are your rubber flooring tiles suitable for use with underfloor heating?
Yes, the rubber floor tiles are suitable for use above warm water underfloor heating both in terms of dimensional stability and heat transference. Despite the insulating properties of rubber, these tiles are only 3mm thick and they actually spread the heat well.
What measures should be taken to prepare the subfloor?
The subfloor should be clean, dry and even. Any dust or dirt present will affect the adhesion of the tiles to the subfloor. New screeds and slabs should be given plenty of time to dry - see individual adhesive manufacturers’ instructions for details of their moisture level requirements. If the subfloor is uneven it should be made level with either a screed or some sheets of plyboard – because the tiles are thin and flexible they will show up any bumps or dips in the subfloor.
Are your rubber flooring tiles suitable for wetrooms and bathrooms?
Our rubber flooring tiles can be used with a suitable adhesive such as G19 in a wetroom situation. However, they cannot be relied upon to form a moisture barrier, and a wetroom system will still have to be used to eliminate water leakage.
Rubber flooring tiles are inherently suitable for bathrooms - their slip resistant and water resistant properties make them an excellent choice.
Are your rubber flooring tiles suitable for dogs claws/high heels/high traffic?
Rubber flooring is used in airports, lifts, hospitals and schools around the world specifically because of its durability and resistance to wear and tear. In high traffic areas or commercial applications it is worth applying a maintenance layer of polish to make cleaning and maintenance easier.
Are your rubber flooring tiles suitable for outdoors?
We do not recommend our stock range of rubber flooring tiles for outdoor use as they are not designed to be UV stable - this means that they will fade and age far quicker outdoors than they will indoors, although some of our customers have still chosen to use our flooring outdoors. We are able to supply flooring from the M1 range by special order - this has a UV cured sealer coating which makes it suitable for outdoor use as well as indoor use.
Do you have to strip and seal your flooring?
From our experience with Kinetics flooring, it is not always necessary to strip the flooring and seal with a layer of polish as is advised by many manufacturers, particularly in light to medium traffic situations. However, if you wish to do this, it will make cleaning and maintenance easier. Instructions on how to do this are available from our website under ‘Installation’.
What adhesives are recommended for installation of your rubber flooring tiles?
We recommend that our flooring is installed by a professional, and they will be able to give you advice on
the best type of adhesive for your installation. However, if you are carrying out a DIY installation,
we recommend Adesilex VS45 where the flooring is to be subject to light/medium traffic and NOT exposed
to high levels of moisture (i.e. VS45 is not to be used where the flooring is to be installed in a wet room).
For a normal bathroom, VS45 can be used. We recommend a two-part polyurethane adhesive for high traffic situations or for installation in wet rooms, however please note
that most such products are sold for professional use only. Please call us if you require more information on recommended adhesives.
